Silvia Acién is the founder and creative director of ACIEN, a regenerative knitwear brand dedicated to using organically certified fibres such as Himalayan nettle, pineapple yarn, lotus flower, regenerative merino wool, and other innovative materials.

ACIEN emphasises natural dyeing processes, utilising invasive plants, bacteria, and natural dyes to enrich the fibres with nutrients, ensuring they biodegrade effectively and return nutrients to the earth. The brand also incorporates ancestral techniques from Silvia’s grandmother, empathising with female genealogy and the importance of preserving folkloric techniques, creating a bridge between farming, science, and fashion, and connecting the past and future in the present.

I am a Senior Lecturer in Fashion and Race at Central Saint Martins working across the fashion programme to support decolonial fashion perspectives.

My research emerges from experiences of teaching fashion design over the last twenty years and recognising the urgent need to explore alternative non-extractive, anti-racist and social justice-oriented forms of fashion design pedagogies. This approach emphasizes a more situated, relational and contextualized fashion design praxis by centring plural, non-heteropatriarchal, noncapitalist forms of fashion inspired by pre-colonial concepts of fashion that respect our planet and multi species.

My AHRC funded PhD titled 'Pluriversal Fashions: Towards an Anti-Racist Fashion Design Pedagogy' investigated how white normativity works to exclude non Eurocentric fashion design epistemologies in fashion design pedagogies and used new decolonial feminist pedagogical frameworks to counter dominant dualist definitions of fashion design.

I am currently working on a monograph 'Fashion and Anti-Racism' (Bloomsbury forthcoming).

Currently pursuing my master's at CSM in MA Fashion, I am a Graduate of Mod'art International, having worked with numerous independent brands. With a penchant for research, I feel that fashion should focus on the future while being conscious of its history.

A part of my design aesthetic is myself -from my Anglo- Indian heritage from my mother's side to the Catholic Goan heritage from my father's side, to say that the mix-up of said cultures plays a part in shaping my design identity.

My biggest muse and inspiration are people, of all kinds. I strongly believe that fashion should tell a story, whether it's about a group of middle-aged women who want to try something different, whether it's of a person who saw a glitched phone display and found beauty in something broken, or whether it's of the people who turn an island into a living breathing city.

Circular fashion has always been at the heart of my process. A significant part of my work is made from vintage clothing that has been pulled apart and reconstructed while retaining some of its original elements. I want to minimise the impact of making new garments while still considering scalability.

I come from a space in Indian fashion where sustainability begins and ends with using organic fabrics. I seek to expand this notion, not just by incorporating techniques like upcycling but by having a circular approach, to prove the point that craft and regenerative fashion can co-exist and support each other.

Teresa Carvalheira is a Portuguese multidisciplinary designer, project manager and programmer, seamstress and upcycler with an interest in intersectional environmentalism, craftivism and social design. Her multi-award winning brand, From Somewhere (1997 - 2014), was pioneering in the field of upcycling and sold in some of the world’s best boutiques; her collaboration include collections for Tesco Clothing, Robe Di Kappa, Topshop and Speedo.

In 2006, she started Estethica, the highly acclaimed Sustainable Fashion Showcase at London Fashion Week (which she has recently reformed), and in 2013 she co-founded Fashion Revolution, now the world’s largest fashion activism movement, with teams in over 80 countries.

Orsola has been on the jury for the British Fashion Council’s New Gen initiative from 2019 and on the jury and advisory board for the ITS (International Talent Showcase) in Trieste since 2020.

She has been a regular at Central Saint Martins, where she was a Practitioner in Residence for the MA (2016 - 2017) and a Visiting fellow (2017 - 2021) and is an Associate Visiting Professor for the faculty of the Arts at Middlesex University.

A fascination of mine is to understand the fundamental mechanics of footwear, the key sequence of operations which take place before a shoe comes into existence. Charged with the desire to investigate sustainable practices whilst exploring alternative disciplines of Sculpture, Engineering, Bio Design and Performance Art.

Unafraid to fail I will attempt to execute key principles: of transference of space / inviting new perspectives. The multiple uses of in contrast to how far can a concept evolve / As an idea progresses can we assign new purpose.

To explore without boundaries is an ambitious task to say the least, I understand there is a level of naivety as I explore the unknown as my practice takes shape. The challenges I’m faced with may alter the outcome of the question or the practicality of executing the task in hand.

Emma Diana is a textile researcher based in London. Originally from Florence, she has a background in sustainable textile technology and fashion design and holds a Master’s in Art Theory and Philosophy from Central Saint Martins. She is pursuing a PhD in Manufacturing and Materials at Cranfield University, where her research explores circular supply chains in fashion and the cultural narratives that support systemic change.

Before moving into research, Emma worked in product development and supply management for small brands and studios, gaining a close-up understanding of sourcing, materials, and garment production flows. This practical experience continues to shape her thinking, grounded in the realities of how things are made.

Her current work focuses on waste materials—particularly surplus wool and deadstock yarns—to reflect on value, time, and care within fashion systems. She approaches textiles as materials and carriers of meaning, questioning the speed and disposability embedded in dominant production models.

Emma encountered Trashclub during her undergraduate final major project as a source of incredible inspiration and a feeling of belonging. She continues to see it as a key point of reference for the community. In this space, difficult questions about waste, systems, and creativity are shared and made visible. Rachel Freire is an artist and designer working in fashion, costume and garment technology. Rachel is self taught in pattern cutting and trained in Design for Performance at Central St. Martins. Their work inhabits the spaces where disciplines meet with focus on intricate, evocative detailing, narrative garments and exploring the relationship between futuristic applications and traditional techniques.

Rachel ‘accidentally’ launched a conceptual fashion label in 2009 to explore the idea of clothing as armour, embarking on a self taught fashion degree live on the catwalks of London Fashion Week.

I work in the field of Circular Design, specializing in the reuse and upcycling of industrial textile waste through indigenous craft practices of India, building replicable systems that allow decentralised development whilst creating conversational products through zero-waste practices. I enjoy designing fashion and textiles that are environmentally, socially and culturally responsible whilst communicating unique stories that are important to me in an emotionally engaging aesthetic.

I am a graduate in craft design with a specialization in textiles from the IICD, India. My subject of study involved design intervention in traditional Indian crafts to bring contemporary context to them and develop products and services with these traditional practices that have greater relevance in the times of today. At my graduation, I won the gold medal for Academic Excellence (2013-2017). I was also selected (with scholarship) to be a part of the CLLB (creative management) course from the IIM-A and received the best project award for my submission ‘Iro Iro: crafting fashion out of waste’.

Poojan Gupta is an artist and a practice-based researcher based between London, Oxford and Jaipur. She is known for her experimental sculptures and interactive installations with discarded pharmaceutical empty blister packs. Born and raised in Jaipur, India, the relationship between minimalist art practices, the environmental impact of medical science, and her Hindu upbringing are the three elements that drives her creative practice.

Addressing contemporary material and spatial challenges, Emma works at the intersection of often delineated disciplines. Her work echoes the symphonies of everyday life and makes use of scientific knowledge and technological innovation.

Current works include hand painted and silkscreen works and installations. In the creation of these large scale pieces, control is often relinquished and liquid colour is allowed to move freely around the silk to allow the work to find its own conclusion.

Working with art and intelligent materials to improve health and wellbeing in an increasingly chaotic world, colour is translated into code, pattern into numbers and movement into sounds.

Since graduating from the Royal College of Art she has worked in research to create innovative textiles and garments for Fairspace at Imperial College, to improve the health of astronauts aboard the International Space Station. I am an award-winning fashion writer, curator and sustainability specialist working at the intersection of creative direction and journalism. With experience across strategy, ideation and creative delivery, I craft compelling campaigns with storytelling at the heart.

At the centre of my work is a drive to make sustainability feel fun, desirable and accessible. In 2019 I founded the semi-satirical magazine TRASHMag that won the LVMH Green Trail Award for bringing a humorous tone of voice and light-hearted visual style to the sustainability conversation.

As a writer, my work has been published in i-D Magazine, The Guardian, 10 Magazine and MW Magazine. Notable interviewees include Gabriela Hearst, Cyrill Gutsch, Jonathan Anderson, Orsola de Castro, Clare Press, Matthew Williams, Bay Garnett and Christopher Raeburn.

I am an advocate for second-hand shopping; it being the most planet-friendly (and fun) way to shop. I am also passionate about platforming up-and-coming designers working with recycled and bio-based materials. At London Fashion Week in 2019, I curated an exhibition space as part of the British Fashion Council’s Positive Fashion Exhibition featuring some of the most exciting designers, jewellers and milliners creating fashion today.

I have spoken to a number of different audiences about sustainable fashion – from 9-year-old students at The Fashion School to bankers in the City of London – and have previously featured on Channel 5 News Live. Other speaking appearances include the Depop Head Office and Colèchi’s Future of Fashion Media event.

I am a fashion entrepreneur and artist specialising in upcycling, and I founded my eco-luxury brand, TildArt, in 2009. My approach centres on ethically upcycling existing materials and incorporating advanced eco-friendly fabrics, creating pieces that captivate visually while showcasing the innovative potential of sustainable fashion.

A hallmark of my collections is the use of upcycled bicycle inner tubes combined with organic materials, with select pieces further enhanced by Swarovski crystals. This collection highlights the beauty and creativity that upcycling brings to haute couture, pushing the boundaries of what sustainable luxury can achieve.

My collections have been showcased across Europe, Canada, the United States, and Australia. Growing up in a small village in Transylvania in a horticultural family, I learned to care for the soil and understand the power of seeds and plants at a very young age. I initially studied horticultural engineering before pursuing my passion for fashion. HWKIM is a Korean fashion designer based in London who presents nostalgia to the public by incorporating his memories into fashion. He graduated BA in Korea, completed the Central Saint Martins Graduate Diploma Fashion, and he is currently studying at Royal College of Art MA Fashion specializing at sustainable human wear.

HW KIM seeks to form a consensus with the public by bringing memories and nostalgia of the past back to the present. Just as old cars are restored and reborn, to HW KIM, fashion means recreating individual memories and rebirthing them in a new form.

This belief is also consistent in the field of sustainability. The materials are developed using second-hand materials and eco-friendly techniques to express aging and nostalgia. In particular, an example can be found in the most recent project, <Don't leave your artefacts for the future>, he used rust dyeing technique from metal and copper into fabrics. Now he is more focusing on reuse, repurpose, recycle in one perspective of sustainability.

Lastly, HW KIM rejects the typical format of presenting fashion. Rather than using a simple runway, I use audio-visual and olfactory media that fit the mood of the subject, and try to convey my story in a humorous way.

Jill Kennedy-McNeill is an artist based in London. Her work considers the practical and theoretical intricacy of creative labour in order to investigate the emotional resonances of economy, organisation and bureaucracy. Her multidisciplinary practice has its origins in garment and textile construction and she is frequently called back to these politically charged modalities both as a vehicle for the realisation of works, and as a form of creative pedagogy.

Recent projects have involved questioning the paradox of sustainable fashion (‘Task Force: Solving the World is Easy To Do’, 2022), interrogating systems of remuneration and exchange on precarious job sites (Indenture Time, 2022) and upcoming works will explore the historical and interpersonal complexities of collaborative co-production (The Labour that Waits, upcoming 2024).

Jill is a Senior Lecturer on Fashion, Textile and Fine Art pathways at several Educational Institutions, where she is an active advocate for widening participation because, fundamental to her art and teaching practice is the belief in community learning as a form of direct action.

Ashley is a weaver & upcycler, based in South East London with a focus on colour, texture and upcycling.

Ashley takes discarded clothes & fabrics such as wedding dresses, jeans & deadstock materials to name a few and re-weaves these fabrics alongside deadstock yarns into new bespoke handwoven fabrics.

Ashley sells these fabrics by bespoke order and has her own namesake fashion brand where she upcycles vintage denim jackets with her hand woven fabrics and creates accessories from luxury deadstock woven fabrics.

Alongside this she teaches upcycling workshops for organizations such as The British textile Biennial, New designers & Lewisham Borough of culture.

Saskia Lenaerts (1993)

As an advocate for a cross-cultural and borderless world, Saskia uses her design practice to impact society. It aims for a transnational way of life by disarming prejudice. Demonstrating both our cultural differences and commonalities, her work is a celebratory juxtaposition of diversity.

Central to her work is humankind and its multitude of context. Her groundbreaking therapeutic design and make methods connect the chosen up cycled and repurposed source materials, to the inherent concept of her make and research practice. Her socially and ethically driven practice pushes the fashion industry’s system, their design mechanisms and how we consume into new territory.

As a maker she creates a space where fashion identity, design ethics, craft and movement of people interconnect.

It is the transnational purpose and mission that propels her practice forward.

Before achieving a master’s degree in Fashion Menswear from Central Saint Martins (2020), Saskia studied at the Antwerp Academy and Kingston School of Art.

She is the recipient of the 2018 Considered Design Award, the 2019 L’Oréal Professionnel scholarship, the 2022 Big Design Award Tokyo and the Milan Fashion Film Festival Award 2023. Over the past four years showcasing her repurposed collections both at London and Lisbon Fashion Weeks.

In 2021 Birkenstock 1774 and Saskia launched a shoe collaboration. She has worked as a designer and concept creator for Alexander McQueen and Burberry.

In the world of stage performance and dance, she collaborated on “TrapLord” by Ivan Blackstock and “Find Your Eyes” by Benji Reid, both co-produced by Sadlers Wells, Factory International and 180 Strand.

She is a visiting Lecturer in concept and collection development for Fashion final-year degree students at Kingston School of Art. She is a member of “Fantastic Toiles” an artist and design collective breaking ground in the world of independent-led retail and curation. For this she designs and makes one-off repurposed capsule collections which drop every other month as part of the Fantastic Toiles in-person boutique events and book launches.

In 2024 Saskia founded “Threads of Transformation” a social design engagement, research and reintegration project in The Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Collaborating with Business For Better Society, Remember Youth for Change and Image director “Vitoria De Mello Franco” she is using therapeutic design and deconstruction methods as a vehicle for social healing to destigmatise victims of conflict and war.

Katy Mason makes striking creations out of objects that might conventionally be perceived as rubbish but have been turned into works of art.

Mason studied Fashion Design at Nottingham Trent University, where she found that the intuitive element of draping (a process of creating a pattern by positioning and pinning fabric in different ways on a mannequin) came more naturally to her than the more rigid flat pattern cutting. It was in Berlin, where Mason lived between 2018 and 2020, that she began to see value in using the discarded objects she found all around her as material for fashion. Along with her two friends Sophie Ruane and Jasmine Febbraro, Mason would prowl the streets for bin bags full of clothes and bits of scrap that could be used to create their quirky designs. As this hobby came to fruition, the trio founded the up-cycling clothes brand Soup Archive, which is still running today.

Although she still collaborates with Soup Archive, Katy, now back in the UK, has moved away from clothes and into jewellery making and sculpture. Taking influence from her fashion background, she describes her craft as ‘object draping’ due to its improvisational nature. Mason has just come to the end of her year’s studio residency at Sarabande Foundation and is moving to a new studio at World’s End on the King’s Road.

I started sewing at a young age - I am grateful to both my grandmothers for their encouragement and thrifty inspiration!

I'm a textile graduate of Golsdmth's University, went on to work in costume for Film & TV before establishing my own textile studio and shop "Fabrications" where I have been championing upcycling, mending and "Cradle to Cradle" principles for over 25 years on the high street.

Alongside selling in-house, my work has been stocked with Amnesty International, Liberty and The Barbican. I also offer a bespoke service called "Remember Me", through which I lovingly transform meaningful items (such as garments that have been left behind by a lost loved one, or, sentimental garments that your children have outgrown) with creativity and care into new treasured pieces.

I am passionate about passing on sewing, mending & upcycling skills whilst encouraging mindfulness, slowing down and resourceful living in the community, through a regular programme of classes and "sewcials" at Fabrications.

Christiane Matz (b. 1986, Spremberg, Germany) is an artist living and working in Hackney, London. She has an MA in Visual Communication, Illustration from the Royal College of Art (2016).

Her work focuses on intimacy documented through experimental drawing, imagining new narratives from observed and lived experiences. These images capture moments in time, exploring emotions of grief, desire and love.

Christiane uses oil pastels, acrylic paint, dry soft pastels and watercolour pencils often on delicate fragile rice paper. Inspired by observation of the every day, photography and film, her drawings begin with a graphite pencil sketch, which changes and alters during the process of image manipulation and imagination.

Matthew Needham (b. 1993, Nuneaton, UK) is a British-Czech artist and curator, known for his contributions toward sustainability within the British fashion industry.

As an artist and curator, Needham’s practice focuses on bricolaging fly-tipped waste within his unique exhibition aesthetic. His ever-evolving investigations into the Anthropocene pose greater questions towards humanity's curation of the world around us and its dissemination within nature.

Matthew holds the title of Sustainability Lecturer for Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins, offering his extensive knowledge of sustainable practice and thinking to the minds of tomorrow.

In 2021, Needham co-founded ‘Trash Club’ alongside fellow artist and collaborator, Katy Mason.

I make art that gives viewers an experience for looking, Jane Allen Nodine.

I am an artist and designer living in South Carolina where I produce unique paintings and art to wear. My interest is grounded in sophisticated design that is well made and focuses on my strong interest in materiality that includes new and found metals such as plastics, laminates, natural and synthetic substances.

After finishing graduate school, I designed and manufactured art jewelry under the name of Jane Nodine Hardwear. From the mid 1990's to 2018 I served as professor of art and university gallery director at University of South Carolina Upstate. Having a strong interest in materiality and a personal connection to the natural world, my work is inspired by elements that show the passage of time and a record of aging. Informed by the macro and micro world, I focus on explorations of color, texture and substance manipulation that yield unusual and seductive visual results. My attention to surface and detailed foundation layers places an emphasis on the appearance of work as I strive to attract the viewer in for closer observation. I work intuitively and describe my approach to artmaking as a process of excavation. There is no map or definitive end and no preconceived plan of travel, only a sense that something waits to be revealed.

But within this desolate landscape stands SAVESTUDIOS. With resilience, they serve as a mouthpiece through which our world continues to live and breathe. Here, nature manifests itself through their latest collection, "2100: End of the World," the two now coexist in a strange, almost prophetic relationship. As ancient myths collide with scientific foresight, SAVESTUDIOS invites us into a new world teetering on the edge of cataclysm b, brimming with a quiet, resilient beauty.

Savestudios’s journey into this apocalyptic future begins not in the future but in the past. Along the banks of the River of Theme, they join a group of mudlarkers, sifting through the remnants of bygone eras. These historical artefacts—clay pipes, ceramics—become the foundation of their creative process, informing designs with a sense of continuity between past and future, destruction and creation. The rough, tactile presence of these found objects contrasts starkly with the delicate fabrics they adorn, symbolising the resilience required to rebuild from ruins.

Gracey Owusu Agyemang is a 25 y/o Multidisciplinary Designer and Regenerative Farmer from Ghana & Namibia who taps into her Western and Southern African roots, using Afro-futurism to inform her work through the lens of agriculture, emphasizing circularity and regenerative fashion. She utilizes traceable natural fibers, self-grown regenerative cotton, natural dyes, and fully compostable fastenings, all while prioritizing soil regeneration. Her accolades include being a 2023/24 BFC MA Scholarship recipient, a Canada Goose HumaNature Awardee for Responsible Design at LFW, and a Sustainable Emerging Designer Awardee at Monte Carlo Fashion Week. Her work has also been showcased at the V&A Museum at Friday Late X GUAP in honour of the African Fashion exhibition launch in August 2022 and the Future Fabrics Expo in London June 2024 with the British Fashion Council.

To her, Afrofuturism serves as a framework to evaluate the past for improving future conditions for Black and African communities. By leveraging her African heritage and diverse cultural background, she reimagines life in minimally modernized African environments, preserving traditional agricultural practices while recognizing the influence of the digital age. Her current projects focus on creating fashion pieces that contribute to soil regeneration and environmental restoration.She creatively uses food waste and natural dyes to color her garments, promoting a circular approach to fashion. Additionally, digital tools she creates with such as unreal engine where she create an afro-futuristic utopia with an interactive VR experience with garments and agricultural tools.

Gracey is also the co-founder of London-based DIJÁGO Studios, alongside Khudija Zaib. DIJÁGO is a Luxury Afro-Asian brand, blending Pakistani, West & Southern African heritage, with a focus on Sustainable Craftsmanship, Trust, and Elegance. Recently, DIJÁGO was shortlisted as a British finalist for the Circular Design Challenge, in collaboration with the British Council and UN India.

Eunice Pais is a visual artist who works with photography, video, fabric manipulation, and text. Influenced by her Mozambican and Portuguese heritage, Pais delves into human-nature interactions, identities, labor, social ecology, and futures through speculative and interdisciplinary research.

Through auto-ethnographic and anthropological approaches, her artistic practice serves as a constant space for questioning and unraveling the 'networks of existence' that comprehend the dynamics of the 'intangible' as a methodology.

Drawing on family and societal knowledge passed down through generations, and her scientific background, Pais deconstructs contemporary fluxes of reality through semiotic studies of folklore and myths as spaces of liminality in ongoing cultural transformations, thus inherently engaging with the questions posed by the work pursuing decoloniality and equity. Her art is a tribute to inclusion, reclamation, equity, joy, and nostalgia.

Driven by a persistent question regarding the ethical implications of photography as a practice for both people and the environment, Eunice founded PAIS- Ethical Image-making in 2020. This photo production agency addresses systemic issues within fashion photography and visual art by championing inclusivity and amplifying diverse voices. Through deep community engagement, PAIS fosters regenerative work models within photography, paving the way for a more equitable and sustainable future.

In 2022. Eunice showcased her work at The Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool (UK), as well as at the Photo Fringe Festival in Brighton (UK) and the State of Fashion's Biennale in Arnhem (The Netherlands). This year, her art has been exhibited in Leicester (UK), Paris (France), and Rome (Italy).

She has been awarded the Alumni Engagement Fund by the U.S Embassy to design and develop a methodology addressing neurodiversity inclusion in societal spheres (education and art).

Anabel Poh (1998, Singapore) is a textile designer, scientist and the co-founder of UNCOLOUR Studios, a textile start-up developing the first 100% bio-based and biodegradable silkscreen ink. She blends her inherent sensitivity for design and compassion towards both people and the planet, harmonising it with a technical curiosity about bettering how textiles are made. She is currently pursuing her MSc in Innovative Textile Development at Saxion University of Applied Sciences.

Nowshin Prenon is a textile designer, specialising in woven textiles. As a textile designer Prenon’s work focuses on telling a story through the use of material and processes. She creates hand-dyed and hand-woven artwork. Her process investigates both digital explorations and expressive winding techniques, which are influenced by her cultural heritage. Her use of rich colour and detailed pattern translated into fabrics illustrate her style as a designer.

Prenon is interested in the relationship of colour and form, which she uses to create layered textile. Playing with line and colour in different order of thread through wrapping allows her to construct intricate artwork.

Annie Purdy is a Footwear Artist, Designer and Shoemaker.

A graduate of Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion, where she won the ‘Sustainable Development Prize’ at the 2023 Cordwainers Footwear Awards, she is now enrolled on the Fashion Masters with a focus in Footwear at the Royal College of Art, where she is currently supported by the Max Mara scholarship.

Annie’s work is a material commentary centred around the experiences of women who hike, run, camp and their community, presented through the vehicle of upcycled footwear. The footwear artist introduces her work through the medium of reimagining post-consumer waste and hiking-associated materials found on British coasts and hiking trails. From broken hot water bottles, tents and kites - reconstructed into interesting shoe uppers - her narrative aims to extend the notions of envisioning sustainable female-made footwear.

She is an avid runner and co-leads the female-run club ‘Athene Runs’ and is also the co-founder of ‘Swamp Wi, a queer feminist arts collective.

Cassie Quinn is a multi-disciplinary designer and is the founder of CQ Studio, which she founded during her Master’s in Biodesign from Central Saint Martins. She conducts R&D of regenerative textiles for fashion. She focuses on post-industrial waste, regenerative plants and post-consumer waste to demonstrate transforming waste into worth by developing innovative materials, including using food waste to clean wastewater to make plastic-free sequins. She uses techniques from traditional crafts to new technologies including embroidery, laser-cutting, biology and plant pigment extraction.

Alongside researching innovative materials, she delivers workshops for organisations such as Soho House, Prince’s Trust, Spotlight Youth Centre & The Victoria & Albert Museum. She has also worked in partnership with brands to deliver workshops including Size? and Project ReGo. Her work has been presented at exhibitions and in publications including Wallpaper* Magazine, Future Fabrics Expo and the IUCN World Congress on the LVMH stand. She has been awarded many accolades including the EU Commission Worth II Partnership Project, the Mayor of London’s Entrepreneur Awards for Creative Industries, and the Young Innovators Award supported by Innovate UK.

Rahemur Rahman (born 1990) is a British-Bengali artist and fashion designer known for his significant contributions to the British-Bengali diaspora and innovative use of traditional Bengali block printing techniques through his eponymous menswear label. Rahman is known for his focus on sustainable and ethically produced garments and is the first Bangladeshi fashion designer in history to showcase their work at London Fashion Week.

Rahman was born and raised in Tower Hamlets, London. Rahman's father worked as a tailor in the rag trade, the immigrant-run clothing manufacturing business that provides cheap labour for the fashion industry. Rahman's work is heavily influenced by his Bengali heritage and the city in which he grew up.

Rahman graduated from Central Saint Martins School of Art & Design, London, alongside fellow London-based designers Richard Malone and A Sai Ta.

In 2019, he presented his first London Fashion Week collection entitled 'For the people who dream in colour' that aimed to reinterpret and re-tell stories of South Asian identity. Drawing inspiration from his family's photographs, his father's love of traditional British tailoring, and his mother's love of clothing from her homeland, Rahman's collection blended Western and South Asian elements, reflecting the cultural duality of his own family and their connection to the rag trade.

As a member of the Bengali diaspora, Rahman is deeply committed to preserving and promoting his cultural heritage, and reimagining how queer creatives in the South Asian community are perceived. He is also an active member of the London art and fashion scenes, and is known for his collaborative spirit and dedication to mentoring emerging Muslim talents.

STINARAND is a Swedish design studio founded by Stina Randestad in 2021. With an MA from The Swedish School of Textiles under her belt, she explores techniques and material combinations of the most innovative nature. Randestad’s work can be described as sculptural yet wearable, where the rich textures create optical illusions and enhance the movement of the body.

Randestad gained recognition from the industry by winning and ranking high in international design prizes, also snatching a semi finalist spot at the LVMH Prize. Her garments has been worn by artists like Björk, Tierra Whack, Rina Sawayama and Kelsey Lu, while her “hairy dress” was also starred in Beyoncé’s Black is King music video.  

Since STINARAND was founded, the studio has taken on creative projects and collaborations with sustainability at its core, creating upcycled textiles and one-off showpiece garments and textiles in-house.

Ellen Rock is a print artist and designer based in London.

Ellen uses her painterly prints to create a language of symbolism, opening universal dialogue and using her work as an enabler for positive global change.

Sophie Ruane is an MA fashion graduate from Central Saint Martins interested in sustainable solutions through design.

In 2019, Sophie co-founded Soup Archive alongside fellow Trash Club Member Jasmine Febbraro, and Katy Mason, co-founder of Trash Club.

Soup Archive, based in London, Swansea, and Shenzhen is a team of 3 fashion designers that make intricately distorted clothing with used materials, adding found gloves, ironic statements, or stitching together quality textures to make wearable/unusual pieces. Their clothes reflect their humour and desire to re-use unwanted items in a contemporary manner. When moving through the collection you will notice delicate twists, and scrambled metal hard-wear developed in unison with London based member Katy Mason.

Jodie Ruffle is an embroidery and embellishment designer for the fashion industry, living and working in East London.

After graduating from a BA in Fashion and working in industry as a designer/maker, Jodie realised her true calling was in textiles and went on to study Couture Embellishment and MA Fashion, specialising in embroidery. Since graduating, Jodie has worked with brands including Alexander McQueen, Ashish, &Daughter, Kurt Geiger and Mih Jeans as well as collaborating with menswear brand Parc London, embroidery designer Ellie Mac and textile company DMC.

Jodie has a strong belief in the therapeutic powers of handcraft as well as the emotional and cultural value it gives to garments and objects. Working with a sustainable ethos and upcycling materials wherever she can has led to her working closely with Fashion Revolution, as an individual designer and also as a founding member of fashion collective, CONGREGATIONdesign.

Her personal work focusses on deconstructing traditional haute couture embroidery and embellishment techniques and combining the imperfect, deconstructed stitch with meticulously placed sequins and beads onto upcycled garments.

Drawing inspiration from remote islander life in the Isle of Man, my concepts are heavily inspired by Manx racing culture and folklore superstitions with the occasional ‘emo’ teenage-anx throwback; dubbing my creations as an eco-eerie-punk fusion.

Rather than fall slave to the usual fashion calendar constraints - I work towards closing loops rather than seasons, reimagining life to disregarded throwaway materials. From working with laddered tights to old racing leathers - each collection is fully transparent with a story to tell, thus giving way to my ‘throwbacks & throwaways’ ethos.

Pinanki's journey began in the maximalist city of Mumbai, where she was raised. She pursued a BA in Fashion in the heritage city of Jaipur, learned sustainable fashion practices in the experimental town of Auroville, and graduated with an MA in Fashion from Central Saint Martins. Drawing inspiration from the rich textiles and clothing archives of South Asia, she is inspired by the dress and life of a woman in the precolonial era, resulting in garments that are not only visually stunning but also environmentally intentional.

Throughout her career, Pinanki has gained valuable experience working with visionary brands like 431-88 by Shweta Kapur in Delhi and Pam Hogg in London. Pinanki brings her multicultural experiences to fashion and works with a unique blend of craft-based, minimal-waste practices at the forefront.

While pursuing MA Fashion Womenswear in Central Saint Martins, Pinanki earned the L'Oréal Professionnel Scholarship for her graduation collection in 2023 and the Sally Woodward Award in 2022. I am a textile artist, designer, lecturer and PhD candidate at Kingston University London in sustainable practices. my research is driven by a long-term engagement with textile waste, specifically waste hosiery to produce new materials forms using a hybrid interdisciplinary approach to creative remanufacturing using regenerative design methods and obsolete machinery.

I have worked within industry for over 20+ years and my established her award winning zero waste design studio and label Sans Soucie in 2002 in Vancouver Canada, relocating to the UK in 2019. In 2019, he exhibited at his first solo art show in Walthamstow entitled There's No Time Like the Present, but Sometimes I Prefer the Past. 2024 saw the launch of Core Sway's clothing label, False Positive, of limited edition items featuring his artwork. In November 2024, he had his second solo art exhibition, Ageless, at Cass Art in Kingston Upon Thames.

Core Sway's mixed media work is inspired by several different areas –graffiti, street art, collage, mixed media, pop art, expressionism, and reusing old or discarded materials.

I produce work that’s experimental and influenced by seeing something around me that triggers a response - this can be adverts, magazine clippings, discarded ephemera, TV and film.

Usually, what's on my mind goes straight onto the canvas without much thought as to what the finished product might be initially. I just have a rough idea and then see what happens – it’s much more fun and spontaneous that way, and I then build up layers of paint and objects to create my desired effect.

In terms of inspiration, it’s culture that plays a crucial part. I love music, art, fashion, photography, film, TV, and it's generally something in one of these areas that sparks an idea in me.

For my most recent pieces of work, the focus has been on recycling, rejuvenation and mental health. This has involved collage and mixed media work on canvas but using materials I have previously accumulated over time that includes old sport newspaper clippings, stickers, postcards, plastic shopping bags, trading cards a cardboard shopping bag from Ibiza and an old filter from a tumble dryer, amongst other items…

The purpose was to create something new from something old. Rather than throw these items out, I have found a new use for them within my artwork, combining it with paint, paint pens and spray paint, building up layers of texture and colour to a finished product in my own graffiti based style.

Natalia has worked with prestigious venues such as The Esplanade, National Design Centre, and the iconic Raffles Hotel in Singapore; contemporary hospitality locales such as The Edition Singapore, Figment, and 1880; and counterculture sites such as Peace Centre, The Substation, and 195 Pearl’s Hill Terrace.

Her work is collected around the world, primarily in Singapore, Japan, Switzerland, and the United States. 

Many of her weavings are on permanent display in House Natalia, a conservation shophouse and co-living space in the eclectic Katong-Joo Chiat enclave in Singapore.

An interdisciplinary fashion practitioner, designer and artist whose practice is informed by fashion systems thinking and questioning, using garments, sculpture, film, performance and workshops to navigate and highlight the necessity for material empathy and sustainable material culture across our industries.

My approach is drawn from the connections found between material, mind, body and landscape, capturing the form of endured physical moments. Working and collaborating with rural textile artisans pushes my work extensively, demonstrating an exploratory and community driven approach to ask what it means to 'make' in uncertain environments, in alternative physical states, to consider artisanal craft's placement in the future of fashion.

Niamh Tuft is the Climate Action Manager at University of the Arts London. Her role is to coordinate and manage the Climate Action Plan across the university which encompasses our activities in teaching and learning, research, knowledge exchange, community action and operations.

She works with a wide range of stakeholders across the university to implement this strategic plan including an action group of staff and students drawn from all areas of the university and its six world-renowned colleges.

Prior to joining UAL, Niamh was the Global Network Manager at Fashion Revolution, a global movement for a fashion industry that conserves and restores the environment and values people over growth and profit. She worked with voluntary activists and organisations that make up the Fashion Revolution Global Network in over 90 countries and co-developed global programmes for Fashion Revolution Week and Fashion Open Studio campaigns and projects.

Niamh started her career at the British Council in the Architecture, Design, Fashion team where she was a programme manager and led the International Fashion Showcase programme for 7 years.

I am an art historian with an interest in the display, representation and mediation of fashion and dress, especially in the moving image. In 2005 I co-founded the Fashion in Film Festival, the first major exhibition, research and education project to explore the common ground between the worlds of fashion, cinema and art. My film programmes have been hosted by arts venues internationally, including London's Tate Modern, Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), Barbican and BFI Southbank; Palazzo Grassi in Venice; Danish Film Institute in Copenhagen and Museum of the Moving Image in New York.

Flyn Vibert is a photographer and artist experimenting with what they call ‘organic transformations’. That is images made by hand through a series of alternative processes, without the aid of digital software or traditional analog techniques.

Flyn has spent the years since graduating from Central Saint Martins and the London College of Fashion developing a unique style and approach to photography, which involves transforming and re-photographing images through a constantly evolving series of physical processes and interactions.

Their work focuses on the idea of (re)using things and objects that are ignored or discarded, and putting them together in ways not normally applied in an arts context. These vary from more direct interventions such as burning or freezing the image, to combining with found objects and trash, or working with non-traditional materials such as hair gel, nail polish, slime, and other ‘secret formulas’. One reason they refer to themself as a scientist as well as a photographer and artist.

Narrative is very important to Flyn. It is through the process of making that they write their stories and in doing so translate them into photographs.

Navneet Virk is a British Asian designer/artist with a professional background in styling, design, and material development. Her employment includes working for independent, commercial and high end luxury brands.

Navneet's personal work explores on the area of innovation in upcycling. Sustainability is at the core of her work, focusing on creating new objects from waste material. Her work explores concepts of excesses within human nature, consumption and how we define value.

Since graduating in 2019 her work has been shown at Bare Fashion Event, due to be featured in Luxiders Magazine and will showcase within the Exhibition ‘Denim – stylish, practical, timeless’ at Spielzeug Welten Museum Basel, Switzerland October 2020 - April 2021.

Hannah’s work is centred on creative repurposing, celebrating reuse and championing the value of circular design. She works with discarded materials, diverting them from landfill to create handmade, useful and beautiful homeware / accessories / jewellery / garments.

 A creative and conscious design approach stems from the mantra ‘waste not, want not’ that was embedded into daily life growing up on a farm in Devon.

Leuca Jane Ziemons is an interdisciplinary artist, slow fashion designer and freelance educator. Her art practice encompasses installation works, narrative textile collections, screen-printing, sound and projection.

Leuca’s primary research focus centres upon present moment awareness and the quotidian moment. She is currently further developing the scope of her Mindfulness-Based Phenomenological Studies with the intention of engendering a contemplative experience of cloth and clothing.

In 2018, Leuca founded the Slow Fashion brand Melaleuca Rise which has provided her with an ever-evolving home for artisanal creativity, where making, mending, and textile transformation are celebrated. These practices have always been central to Leuca’s life, no matter where she has lived. Through her multi layered approach to life and work, she seeks to pass on these skills and inspire others to care for textiles, fostering a deeper connection between cloth and the wearer.

Having recently submitted her PhD at the University of Technology Sydney exploring pluriversal fashion-textiles and holding an MA in Fashion Futures from London College of Fashion, her work bridges diverse worldviews with creative practices to empower individuals and communities to engage with relational, place-based, holistic, and autonomous pathways towards sustainability.

Ania mentors creatives, collaborates with universities on workshops and learning experiences, and facilitates community spaces that explore holistic approaches to fashion-textile practices.
